Salzwedeler Tor is one of the former three city gates of Gardelegen. It was built in the middle of the 16th century as part of the city fortifications. The two battery towers, which precede the gate, have a diameter of 9 and 18 meters. It was the only one largely preserved after the destruction of the city fortifications in 1659. In 1907 the gate was reconstructed by the architect Otto Stiehl. Among other things, the staggered gable over the gate was restored to old models. In 1957 and 1986 repair work took place. From 1991 a general repair was carried out.

The goal is today domicile for different clubs.
