This place of pilgrimage is dedicated to Our Lady of Fever. The resort is located on the highest peak of a group of inland dunes. In 1746 the 'Convoy Battle' took place in Drieboomkensberg during the 'Succession War'. An English officer was seriously injured and he promised to erect a chapel if he survived the battle alive. His prayers were answered and around 1750 he had a chapel built here. However, this chapel was destroyed in 1800 by a terrible storm. The chapel was never rebuilt. A statue of Mary was hung from one of the three larchs on the hill. This statue can still be found in Drieboomkensberg. In the area you will find the beautiful Kempen forests and the ancient Zandven. The pilgrimage town of Drieboomkensberg, dedicated to Our Lady of the Fever, is located on the highest peak of a group of undulating inland dunes that define the landscape. The place got its name from the three large larch trees that stood on the hill. The area is rich in untouched natural beauty and you will still find quiet corners where heart and mind can rest.
