Located about 1.5 km behind Eberbach Monastery, the Kisselmühle Lama and Alpaca Farm in Eltville am Rhein is a real gem. Here, visitors can experience over 100 even-toed ungulates up close: in addition to llamas and alpacas, there are also dromedaries and Bactrian camels - in zoology, these are all classified as part of the "camelid" family. The llama and camel trekking tours offered all year round are a special experience. A picnic in the middle of a herd is also a very special experience, especially for families. Incidentally, llamas that are raised in a species-appropriate manner do not spit at people, contrary to popular belief. The animals are doing very well here - so don't worry! And what's more, the animals' friendly, calm nature gives people a balancing, relaxing effect. Interacting with them has a really calming effect, allowing visitors to switch off from their often stressful everyday lives. The effect on people is so positive that contact with camelids is even used as part of therapy for mental and physical impairments.
