Altdorf UR

Altdorf is the economic, political, cultural and social centre of the canton of Uri. It is located at around 450 m above sea level in the lower Reuss Valley, south of Lake Lucerne, surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama. The Italianità of Altdorf's architecture, squares and alleys let you feel the proximity to the south. In addition to the wide range of cultural activities that Altdorf offers, you are at the perfect starting point for numerous hikes and excursions into the mountains. By bus, train and cable car you can reach your destination in no time. How about a trip to the Eggberge sun terrace, for example? After a short ride by bus and cable car you are at 1500 m above sea level and enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Lucerne and the Uri Reuss Valley. In addition to numerous hikes, a visit to the Drechsler boutique is also possible here.

A beautiful town in central Switzerland. Easily accessible by train or bus. The Tell Trail hiking trail starts in the town (at the William Tell monument).
