The parish was probably founded before 1022 and mentioned in documents in 1188.

The building is dominated by the generous neo-Romanesque extension from 1904 to 1908 and 1922 made of Baumberg sandstone and a copper-covered roof. The architect of the 1922 construction project was Ludwig Becker.

The church of Ss. Fabian and Sebastian with their large dome and the two towers are visible from afar in the flat land. The historical Romanesque predecessor building from the 13th century was supplemented at the beginning of the 20th century by a neo-Romanesque extension with two towers. If you like, you can take a little time to visit, because the church hides some old and historical treasures: The Gothic baptismal font or the Varlar cross from the 13th century are impressive, and there are also altars, windows and wall paintings from the time of the Reconstruction around 1920.
