The Schwarzsee is a ridge above Zermatt in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is located north of the Matterhorn at an altitude of 2583 m above sea level. M. and can be reached from Furi and Furgg. In its viewing area are the Monte Rosa massif, the Mischabel group, the Dent Blanche, the Weisshorn and the Matterhorn. The name of the mountain ridge is the small mountain lake of the same name with an area of less than 0.1 km², where the chapel "Maria zum Schnee" and the mountain station of the Schwarzseebahn are located. Schwarzsee is a starting point for climbing the Matterhorn as well as hikes to the Hörnli hut, which can be reached in about two hours. Schwarzsee used to be accessible only by ski lifts and small cable cars. Meanwhile, as part of the renaturation efforts of the Zermatt cable cars, the old lifts were replaced by a modern gondola lift. In the tourism industry, the place, which the sun reaches in the morning as the first in the Zermatt ski area, is marketed as Schwarzsee paradise. Source: Wikipedia
