Bakery Goossens was founded in 1884 by Philippe Goossens. Today, the fourth generation of bakers, together with skilled employees, produces artisanal products in the same place, according to authentic recipes and traditional methods. Slow kneading processes, long and frequent rising times and a traditional floor oven are our secret. Our specialties are various types of bread, including the delicious rye bread and a range of special breads such as sugar bread, stollen, succade bread, chocolate bread, ...
Pastry cannot of course be missed. We offer classic butter desserts, often mixed with the best chocolate in the world. You can find traditional pastries such as snow pateekes, marble cake, alcazar, cheese pies and apple pie with us. Also outstanding is the thick speculaas, made according to an ancient recipe in an antique heart shape, which still bears the initials PH of our founder.
We also have salty snacks such as the Goossens Pizza. In the 1950s, after a trip to Italy, this was devised by our chef pastry chef especially for the Antwerp gourmet. At that time, pizzas were much less known and popular than today.
