In the small town of Buchholz (Nordheide) you will find everything your hiker's heart desires. From the baker to the shop to the sports shop. A couple of benches on the market square invite you to take a breather.

n the year 1450, the small heathland village of Bockholte was first mentioned in a document with two full and three semi-farms. At the turn of the last century, the Buchholz railway was given a facelift. The village became the main hub of the Bremen-Hamburg, Bremervörde-Lüneburg and Buchholz-Hanover routes. In addition to the previously dominant agriculture, general trade now developed from this favorable transport connection. After the Second World War, the people of Hamburg not only looked for a place to go, but increasingly chose Buchholz as their place of residence. In 1958, for example, the community was given the title of city. Today, the town of Buchholz in the Nordheide has almost 40,000 inhabitants and, in addition to interesting, modern architecture, also offers traces of the former village history.
