In 1903 Bernhard Howaldt, son of the HDW founder, had a hydroelectric power station built where a paper mill used to be. The operation was so successful that in 1908 a second plant was added. For this purpose, the Schwentine was dammed up with a dam to create the Rosensee.

One of two hydroelectric power stations on the Schwentine. This one in particular is really interesting. On the one hand you have a nice view of it, with a bit of luck you can also admire the automatic cleaning with the excavator arm and the channeled Schwentine, which is led to the power plant, is impressive. Beautiful villas are almost picturesquely situated on the canal.
