Quite a large park, which includes the former Roman fortresses (with amphitheater) and thermal baths (today with LVR Museum). Very interesting to look at. When the weather is good, be sure to bring something for a picnic on one of the meadows.

The LVR Archaeological Park in Xanten

Xanten is a paradise for friends of Roman culture. On the site of the ancient provincial town of Colonia Ulpia Traiana, Roman history comes to life - in the LVR Archaeological Park Xanten - abbreviated APX.

Imposing reconstructions of Roman buildings are the heart of the Xanten Roman Park.

The LVR-Roman Museum

The LVR-RömerMuseum is located in the APX. Ancient finds and modern media show vividly and entertainingly how Roman life looked 2000 years ago. Do not just look, touch and join in!

Not only the exhibition, but also the building of the Roman Museum is impressive. The 20 m high building has the dimensions of the entrance hall of the Great Baths of the Roman city.

When visiting the Roman Museum you can also visit the excavated ruins of this Roman bathing facility.
