Old mountain school in the Lutherstadt Eisleben
In the former Hospital for minors unable to work, the Eisleber Bergschule was founded in 1798 to train mining managers.

The old mountain school housed in 1229 a donated by the Mansfeld Counts Hospital for disabled miners. In 1798, at the behest of the Electoral Saxon government, the Eisleber Mountain School was founded in the so-called Katharinenstift, in which the miners received their training. The mountain school, housed since 1844 in the former Bergamt in Sangerhäuser Straße, formed a total of 3,650 managers for various mining branches until 1945. In 1903, a new building was built on Geiststraße, which housed the rebuilt "Berg- und Hütteningenieurschule" after the Second World War and later the engineering school for electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

Today, part of the city administration is housed in the old mountain school. In the courtyard of the Katharinenstift, the natural food and regional market offers regional and vegetarian cuisine, delicatessen specialties and local wines. The Galerie-Café invites you for coffee and home-baked cake in a cozy atmosphere.
The new building in Geiststraße is currently home to a vocational school and the district folk high school.
