"The chapel stands up there, looking quietly down into the valley," Ludwig Uhland could also have written this poem in Busenbach. The "Maria Zuflucht" chapel has stood there since 1957 at one of the highest points in the Waldbronn district.

It has its origins in a promise from the last days of the Second World War. The Busenbach pastor at the time, Friedrich Ohlhäuser, was sitting with several Busenbach residents in a mountain tunnel converted into an air raid shelter below the rectory garden during an air raid. From here, the community took on the promise that if Busenbach survived the hardships of war largely unscathed, a chapel dedicated to Mary would be built as a thank you. The site was also important. In 1945, eight Karlsruhe Volkssturm men lost their lives at this spot and the first French tanks drove over the hill into the Albtal village.
