The Olive Trail is a 10km, approximately 4h long hike through the Naukluft Mountains. At the start there is a parking lot with picnic table and a simple toilet. The trail is shaped like a triangle, after completing you will end up at the parking lot again.
The first section leads upwards on the side of a mountain, ending on a plateau around 300m of altitude above the start at the parking lot. The second section takes you downwards through a canyon, hiking through a rocky riverbed. The third section is a gravel track which leads back to the start.
It is highly recommended to carry enough water and walk the trail like supposed in clockwise direction. There are white markings on stones along the way which aren’t always visible if you would go the other way around.
Along the way there is beautiful nature with stunning views and wild animals
like zebras, baboons, geckos and a variety of birds to see.
