The castle is imposing in the very steep vineyards at this point. A popular photo opportunity. The ruin was closed on the last visit. However, there isn't much to see inside the ruin anyway. Ehrenfels is impressive from the outside from different perspectives, surrounded by the Rhine, Bingen on the other side of the Rhine and the vineyards.

Ehrenfels Castle is a striking castle ruin in the Rheingau region, west of Rüdesheim am Rhein, and is one of the region's most famous landmarks. It sits spectacularly on the steep slope of Rüdesheimer Berg, surrounded by vineyards and the Rhine, with views of Bingen and the Mäuseturm (Mouse Tower).
