With 2.1 square kilometers of water, the Rothsee is the largest natural bathing water in the Roth district. It is divided into two parts, a pre-lock and a main lock. The pre-dam has a size of 50 ha, of which approx. 20 ha are a nature reserve. The main dam is 160 hectares in size (10 hectares of which are a nature reserve). A beautiful cycling and hiking trail is around 12 kilometers long and invites you to go around the Rothsee. There are many leisure and recreation facilities around the lake for visitors.

Very nice to go for a walk but as a tip writes here that hiking and cycling paths are separate is not true, cycling and hiking paths are only separated for a short part on the large Rothsee. About 3-4km the rest is a communal path.

Of the three large lakes in the Franconian Lake District, the Rothsee is the smallest. But that doesn't detract from its attractiveness.
