The inner city of Gera is criss-crossed by Hoeler. Hoeler are beer cellars. When there were no refrigerators in the past, people looked for coolness in the depths. Today almost all Hoeler are connected to each other. You can book a guided tour for a small amount of money.
I myself have already done 2 guided tours and each time it was a highlight. You can also buy original Hoeler beer in the internal shop. Tastes very delicious 😋.

The Geraer Höhler are a system of artificially created cavities under almost all houses in the old town of Gera, which were formerly used to store beer. There are also underground beer storage tunnels in other cities in central Germany (e.g. in Altenburg, Zeitz, Glauchau, Crimmitschau and Eilenburg), but only those in Gera have been referred to as "Höhler" (Wikipedia).
