    Leuven is a versatile city. On the one hand, it has a centuries-old cultural heritage: the university is the oldest in the country and numerous Gothic buildings testify to its former importance. On the other hand, it is precisely this heritage, the university, that brings young people to the city in large numbers. They create an exciting, innovative atmosphere.

    By far the most iconic landmark of Leuven: the town hall. The late Gothic building from the 15th century is completely decorated with playful stone statues and colorful flags. The facade is a Leuven hall of fame with 236 (!) statues. Each of them represents a personality who has earned a place of honor in the history of the city.
