The 2.7 km long section leads from Mechtenberg (connection with the Kray-Wanner railway line path) in the southern part of Gelsenkirchen towards the east to Parkstrasse in Bochum-Günnigfeld. It has the full RS1 development standard: 4 m wide roadway with easy-to-drive asphalt with central and edge markings, 1.5 m wide footpath and 50 cm tactile space between the footpath and the roadway. Signage and right-of-way signs have also already been installed, and lights have been mounted on the connecting pillars. The route of the former Rhenish Railway is also used in this section (route number 2232). At the former Gelsenkirchen Wattenscheid station, the path bends slightly to the north. The eastern end is still a little up in the air. The Gelsenkirchenr/Leither Str. bridge has been renovated.
The section was built in connection with the natural redesign of the Wattenscheider Bach by the Emschergenossenschaft; the construction road is now RS1.
Several junctions.
