Lead ore and slate were extracted in some of the tunnels. In the caves and old tunnels, the residents took shelter during the bombing of the Second World War. Peter Zeutzheim, who had escaped from Gestapo custody and who, with the support of the population, managed to stay hidden in the surrounding forests until the end of the war, also hid here for a time.

The Baybachklamm dream loop really deserves this name. Wonderful and varied path that makes the tour even more interesting with a few smaller "climbing passages". Sensible footwear and surefootedness should be a matter of course, especially on damp surfaces.
