Gorgeous and historic. It is one of the younger country estates. It came into being only in 18th century. The hills and ponds of those days are still there. The straight beech and oak avenues, laid out by the well-known garden architect Zocher, are also still there.

What is no longer there is the old manor house. The house, built in 1878, was so dilapidated in 1971 that it had to be demolished. All that remains now is a few steps of the landing stairs under the large conifer.

On the high hill near where the country house once stood, there must once have been a so-called Turkish tent in which the inhabitants of Bantam drank tea and looked out at the Zuiderzee. The foundations that are still there are of a water tower, which provided the water supply for the house.

Bantam only originated in the 18th century. The then owner of Schaep en Burgh was given permission to also mine part of the Naarderveld. A landscape garden was created, also called Little Switzerland. The hills and ponds from that time are still there. The straight beech and oak avenues, laid out by the famous landscape architect Zocher, are also still there. There must once have been a so-called Turkish tent on the highest hill where people drank tea and had a view as far as the Zuiderzee.
