A pearl among the art treasures of Lower Bavaria

A special art treasure in Lower Bavaria is the St. Peter and Paul branch church in Berghofen. The tower with its Romanesque basement and thick walls used to be a defense tower. It served the farmers of the surrounding wooden houses as a refuge from raids. The Berghofen branch church was rebuilt in its current form around 1400. The frescoes were exposed in 1913 and the church was renovated in 1956.
