Schleswig-Holstein's largest windmill in Kappeln rises 32 meters into the air, making it the third landmark of the Schlei town, alongside the chimneys of the Föh eel smokehouse and the bascule bridge. After the first mill in Kappeln was completely burned down by a fire in the 17th century, it was rebuilt in 1888 for 80,000 gold marks. The Amanda mill was still in regular milling operation until 1964. The building has been owned by the city since 1977 and is a listed building.
In 1990 it was given the status of a cultural monument.

To this day, this beautiful building still serves a number of important purposes. In addition to the Kappeln tourist information office on the first floor, its gallery offers a wonderful view of the town of Kappeln. Directly connected to the mill is a historic sawmill that offers hand-made wooden furniture.

The Amanda mill is also very popular with many people looking to get married due to its special history and unique atmosphere.
Weddings take place almost every week, especially in the summer months

in the wedding room of the venerable building.
