Path of the fountains of the Jorat woods
The northern region of the commune of Lausanne is located in the forest of the Jorat woods, the highest point of which is the Montagne du Château at around 920 m. Resurgences or springs feed numerous fountains... to discover.
For centuries, the most important springs in this region have been captured and supply drinking water to the inhabitants of Lausanne and surrounding communities.
Other sources and resurgences of lesser importance have also been captured over the years to supply fountains along forest paths: yesterday for loggers and their horses, today for the great joy of walkers.
Along the route, there are the charming names of the fountains which tell so many stories: the President's fountain, the fountain of the three sparrows, the fountain of the Meules, the fountain of the soldiers, ...
Explanatory panels, placed near each fountain, provide information to walkers and tell stories... about water. The objective being, under the aegis of Agenda 21 of the City of Lausanne, to highlight the richness of the natural forest-water couple in a refreshing way.
