Through an avenue of young columnar oaks, across meadows and past groups of trees, we reach the west side of dump 2. We walk along a wide path over the dump, which until 1987 was an open garbage dump for backfilling a sand mine. By covering, draining and greening, an outstanding vantage point with panoramic paths was created by 2007. The view extends over Dresden to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the east, the Osterzgebirge in the south and the vineyards of the Lößnitz in the west. We go to the stairs over the plateau in a south-easterly direction. On the last meters of the Panoramaweg we have another good view of the Dresden industrial area with former warehouse buildings and workshops. The office building of the former turbo engine building behind the army bakery is an example of the modern industrial building of the 1950s. In the distance we can see the top of the Military History Museum, the former arsenal building, and the towers of the garrison church.
