According to legend, the first settlers of the Waldsassen monastery settled here on Schirndinger Strasse in the direction of Münchenreuth in 1127. Under Abbot Eugen Schmid (1724-44) a chapel and a hermitage were built here. In 1810, the buildings were demolished. The Gerwigkreis Waldsassen built this memorial in 1974 with stone and a double beam cross made of granite.

Can be reached by car heading out of town in the direction of Cheb, then further in the direction of Münchenreuth - directly on the road on the right. Or via hiking trail no. 2.
