      The 2.1-kilometer route leads from the base station in the Sarajevo district of Bistrik (583 m) to the "Ramo Biber" mountain station near the Olympic bobsleigh run on the Vidikovac peak (1160 m) on the Trebević slope.

        You can get to the mountain very quickly and easily by cable car. Where the bobsleigh run of the 1984 Olympic Games took place. The railway is still there but is no longer used. 🥾🥾

          Visiting the Olympic venue brought back memories of my youth. Nature is still beautiful, people are friendly. It's a shame that many buildings have fallen into disrepair.

            The cable car takes you comfortably to the start of the bobsleigh run. Great view over Sarajevo.
            There is food and drinks at the destination station.
            You should definitely choose the route back to the valley on foot via the bobsleigh run. At the end of the bobsleigh run, it is recommended to make a short detour to a former observatory. A beautiful "lost place" that was heavily fought over during the war. To be on the safe side, we went the rest of the way to the city and then took the new road.

              The city stretches west-east on the Sarajevo plain in the midst of the Dinaric Mountains. The Miljacka River flows through the town; the Bosna rises west of the city in the municipality of Ilidža from a karst spring. The plain is surmounted by the mountains of Bjelašnica and Igman in the south-west and Jahorina and Trebević in the south-east.

              The city center is 511 meters above sea level. The suburbs reach up to over 900 meters. The mountains around the city are mostly forested and up to 2,000 meters high.
