          According to legend, Mariabuchen owes its origins to a simple shepherd who drove his herd through the Buchental.
          About 600 years ago he carved a portrait of Our Lady with the dead Savior and placed it in the knothole of an old beech tree.
          This image of grace, which today stands on the left side altar of the church, is the main contact point for all pilgrims who come here every year on their processions in the Buchental. Around 45 groups currently find their way to Maria Buchen every year, with the catchment area encompassing the entire triangle of the Main and large parts of the Spessart.

            A beautiful monastery, currently under renovation. The facade is surrounded by a scaffold. There are three restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Two directly at the monastery and one a little below. To get there, you have to drive down the path and then turn right.
