The Blindsee lies at 1,092 m and has a length of 1,000 and a maximum width of 300 meters. The deepest point measures 22 meters. Along with the Mittersee and the Weißensee, it belongs to the "Fernpass Lakes" and is the largest of these.
A special feature of the Blindsee is the bizarre underwater world made of tree trunks, branches and roots, which a large landslide in the winter of 1984 after heavy snowfall brought into the lake. It is precisely because of this bizarre underwater landscape that the crystal-clear blind lake is also very popular with divers. Diving is only permitted with permission.
The name of the lake comes from the fact that it has no inflow or outflow, but is only fed by the surface water of the surrounding mountains.
