The Aelmoeseneiebos is located in the province of East Flanders, between the urbanized area of Ghent and the Flemish Ardennes. The forest is 28.5 hectares in size and is located on the territory of the municipalities of Melle and Oosterzele. The Ghent-Geraardsbergen railway line divides the forest in two.
As far as we know, most of the Aelmoeseneiebos has always been forest. It is 'old forest'. The oldest maps showing land use in Flanders are the maps of Count de Ferraris from 1775. On these, part of the Aelmoeseneiebos is already colored as a forest.

Beautiful boardwalk. Be careful on wet days, can be slippery. Beautiful location, edge of the forest.
