The village was abandoned by its Greek residents after the division of Cyprus. Today, the former ghost village is inhabited almost exclusively by British and Germans, who had to commit to leasing, maintaining and modernizing the houses from the North Cypriot state for at least 25 years - under strict conditions that ensure that the historical character is preserved.
