The Landgrafen Gorge was developed and made accessible by employees of the Society for Job Promotion, Employment and Structural Development as part of job creation measures from 1992-1997 with funds from the Federal Employment Agency.
This has resulted in an attractive hiking trail from the Mariental to the Weinstrasse.(...from the information board)
I say hat 🎩 off! An outstanding work performance by the people who opened up the gorge at the time and built the paths and bridges. I was not aware of this until now. Many thanks for that!

Wildly romantic and not as touristy as the better-known big sister across the street and therefore much nicer !!!!
