In 1248 the monastery was founded. In the years, the Hussite Wars and during the Thirty Years War, it was looted twice but never completely destroyed. It is one of the few monasteries that has existed from its foundation until now. In the years 1716-1732 the monastery was changed in the baroque style. A very worthwhile facility, as many parts of the monastery are open.

The abbey is one of the few religious houses that has been without interruption since its foundation in 1248 Parts of the monastery are open to the public. These include: monastery church, monastery garden, monastery museum (treasury), monastery restaurant and monastery shop. "
There is a (herbal) foot bath at the monastery water. Very nice on hot days.
