In any case, this little moated castle is worth a (bicycle) trip. The castle is located in the Hagen district Vorhalle in the Ruhr valley at the foot of the legendary Kaisberg. Approximately 15 min walk bring hikers to Harkortsee. If you want to have a nice breakfast on the weekends, you can do it at the breakfast buffet. For more information please ask because I do not know if you can have breakfast all year round. There are homemade pies or something hearty from the Westphalian Vesperkarte. Specialty are the buttermilk waffles. A very special highlight is the Museum of Prehistory and Early History. For details, see the following link: historisches-centrum.de/index.php?id=139 The 5th star I would forgive if the development of the castle would be a little more discreet. You do not see the houses directly from the castle because the houses were placed a little further away, but the overall picture on the approach I found to be a bit disturbing.

The moated castle Werdringen is a moated castle in Hagen-Vorhalle near the Ruhr on the Harkortsee below the Kaisberg. It houses a supraregional museum for prehistory and early history in an outbuilding.
