The Urriðafoss is Iceland's most water-rich waterfall. The river Þjórsá plunges with 360 m³ / s of water to a depth of about 40 m to a depth of 6 m. First, large parts of the stream fall into a cleft in front of a rock in the middle of the river, but the main stream breaks through at another point. In winter, up to 20 m thick ice sheets can form.

The waterfall is located after a small turn south of the ring road in southern Iceland, about 16 kilometers east of the town Selfoss. Despite its size, it is quite unknown and rarely mentioned.
It is planned to build a hydroelectric power station below the waterfall. This could possibly mean the end of this waterfall.
