    The Dictaean Cave, or Psychro Cave, is a magnet for visitors. If you like, you can ride a donkey up the main route for a lot of money. But you can also climb on the (northern) side route and hardly meet anyone (off-season).

            If you have to fight with a walking disability, the following should be noted: Better use the offered donkeys. Cost 10EUR for up and again 10 EUR for the descent. The last 50m to the cave, however, are not accessible with the donkey and especially impassable. For this you get a free entrance to the cave with a german handicapped card. This is again well equipped with stairs and handrails.

              Psychro Cave, also known as Zeus Cave, was an important place of worship for the Minoans. The Greek myth that Zeus was born in this cave and was cared for by Amaltheia and the Curetes is possibly connected with this cult. The Psychro Cave has been identified as the mythical cave known in ancient times as the "Dictean Cave". See Wikipedia ..
              This cave is a MUST HAVE for a vacationer who just wants to explore the highlights of the east. The cave embodies Greek mythology and it is romantic.

                      The 6 euros are not worth the entrance fee and the journey. In addition, it is not allowed to take pictures here with a tripod. The parking lot just happens to be chargeable. I had to pay, 15 minutes later no more.
                      You should only visit the cave if you are on the Lassithi plateau anyway.
