The Oasis of Ca 'Mello, located along the Sacca degli Scardovari, inside the Veneto Regional Park of the Po Delta, is the testimony of a delta of other times, when the old and disappeared Po di Camello, flowed on the Donzella island and flowed into the lagoon.
Today it is possible to discover its secrets by exploring the paths on foot or by bicycle, immersing yourself in the silence to admire and listen to the sounds of nature, fully enjoying the relaxing landscape scenarios, experiencing the rural aspects of the delta territory at 360 degrees.
The area, managed by Veneto Agricoltura in synergy with the Delta Po Adige Reclamation Consortium, is also a Rural Animation Center.
WARNING ! At present, May 2021 the oasis appears literally abandoned to itself .... some paths not usable because wooden bridges, crossbeams and signs are almost destroyed, deteriorate ... even the observation tower of the oasis from where you sees a splendid view of the Sacca di Scardovari and the Oasis is at "life risk" ...... and I'm not kidding! ...... I climbed the ladder with a slope to the limit of safety standards and the flooring of wood on the floor is unsafe with huge holes and signs of neglect.
The worrying thing is that there are currently no access bans on the way up, at the risk of one's own safety.
Part of the route is then not usable because the wooden crossing bridge has partially collapsed and the access path has been walled by brambles for who knows how long.
All the signage looks as embarrassing as the weeds apart from the picnic area which was displayed in its heyday even though the visitor center had long since closed.
From a journey estimated in about 2 hours of walking, after 30 minutes we were already back to the starting point, disappointed by this place that has enormous potential for what it could offer from a naturalistic point of view.
