The lodge stands on the Glava hill between Dupeljsko Lake and the Duplje sheep farm. It consists of five functionally interconnected buildings placed in a spruce grove so as not to disturb the environment of the Triglav National Park. The project was based on the architecture of Tolmin and Bovec shepherd stables. In PD Nova Gorica, the idea of building a outpost at the Krn Lakes was born as early as 1951; a preparatory committee was set up in 1970 and a building committee in 1975. In 1978, a freight cable car was built from Lepena to the saddle between Velika Baba and Debeljak above the Duplje mountain. In 1980, they began building four facilities and a winter bivouac, which in 1983 received the first visitors. The grand opening of the home was on July 8, 1984 on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of PD Nova Gorica. In 1986, construction began on a fifth, dormitory facility, which was largely completed the following year; the opening of this facility was on July 3, 1988. In 1991, a water supply system was installed from the spring on the Polje mountain. The home is open from early June to late September.
