There is a nice place to sit at this point. ☺️You can also drive directly from here to the game reserve and the forest adventure trail in Rieth if you follow the former border strip opposite the cross, slightly downhill. From there you can get to Rieth and take a break at the inn. This place is a memorial to German history.

The almost 1400-kilometer-long inner-German border (also known as the German-German border) prevented residents of the German Democratic Republic from visiting the Federal Republic of Germany or leaving it permanently to the west until 1989 through massive fortifications.[1] This did not include the part of the GDR's border with Berlin, whose western sectors within Berlin were closed off with the Berlin Wall from 1961. The course of the demarcation lines between the western occupation zones and the Soviet occupation zone (SBZ) was determined by the main victorious powers of the Second World War in several conferences and continued in this geographical form after the founding of the two German states in 1949. The border began in the south at the border triangle of Bavaria, Saxony / GDR, Czechoslovakia and ended at the Baltic Sea in the Bay of Lübeck on the Priwall peninsula.
