The lodge stands on the high plateau of Ledina on the south side of Triglav. The first hut was built by the initiators for the establishment of the Triglavski prijatelji association from Bohinj and opened on 18 September 1871; they called it the Triglav Temple. The hut had already collapsed by 1875. At this place, the German-Austrian Mountaineering Association built a new hut in 1877; in 1880 it was sold to the Austrian Tourist Club, which restored it and opened it on 3 August 1880 under the name "Maria Theresa's Cottage". A new Maria Theresa Home was opened next to the cottage on 13 August 1911. After World War II, the lodge and hut were taken over by PD Gorje, and the outpost was given its current name.The lodge retained its former exterior shape and the interior was redesigned several times.In 1987, the dilapidated hut was demolished. demolished (the watchtower) and gradually built a larger annex instead, which was ceremoniously opened and blessed on 19 August 1992.

From northeast to east we can see the Karavanke and Kamnik Alps on the horizon, in front of them part of the Gorenjska plain with Bled and Radovljica, and in the foreground the ridge above the Krma valley with peaks from Debela peč to Draške vrh, Tosco and Vernar; to the south, the view extends to Snežnik, the Kvarner Bay with the islands of Krk and Cres, Učka, Slavnik, Nanos to the Gulf of Trieste with Trieste; in front we see above the Bohinj basin a wreath of the Lower Bohinj Mountains, and in the vicinity Velo polje, Fužinske planine, Mali and Veliki Stog and Mišelj vrh; from south to west, Mišeljska glava, Hribarice, Zelnarica and Kanjavec are located nearby, and the top of Krn is visible behind; to the west, the nearby Rjavec and Šmarjetna glava close to the view, and on the northern side of the plateau rises the southern wall of Triglav.
