The Planetary Hiking Trail is a 3.6-kilometer cycling route designed as a one-way tour. It begins at the "Alter Postweg" hiking trail and continues straight ahead to the "Um Ost" campsite, heading east on the island. Along this section of the route are information panels and models of the most important objects of our solar system: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, the asteroid, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The special thing is that the size of the models and their distances to each other are true to scale.
Unfortunately, the models are poorly maintained and were partially stolen. The smaller planets are hidden under a small plexiglass dome under which they are almost invisible.
