Only nine kilometers from Foča, you will find the sand pyramids on the right side of the road to Sarajevo, in the village of Daničići. "Pješčane Piramide", as the locals call it, was formed from sandy clay by the erosion process over the centuries. Rain, wind, frost and summer heat eroded some of the soil while the stronger cliffs withstood. The partial erosion created a rarely seen geomorphological phenomenon with interesting shapes. Rising out of the wide foundations, these pyramid-shaped rocks become thinner towards the top, some of them are up to 20 meters high. In fact, the erosion process is still going on, so the sand pyramids are reshaped and growing every day.
