Gabet is the narrow passage to Odense Fjord between Hals on Enebærodde and Lodshuse on Hindsholm. The fairway is only 400 m wide and up to 14 m deep –
a stark contrast to Odense Fjord, which is only 2.25 m deep on average.
But here in Gabet, all ships can pass, and therefore even very large ships sometimes pass on their way to or from the Odense Canal.
There is a strong current in the channel, so swimming is not possible here.
Before the Enebærodde lighthouse was built, there were many shipwrecks
in the narrow and dangerous shipping channel.

Here you can see the end of Odense Fjord. There is only a narrow passage (gab) of less than 500 meters before you can sail from Odense Fjord into Samsø Bælt and further into Kattegat.
