The "Rauschende Felsen von Windhaag" - an extraordinary radio play natural phenomenon.
The approximately 6 meter high granite formation is located between the historic Maltsch Bridge in Mairspindt and the village of Hammern. The sound of the water masses of the Maltsch can only be heard within a meter. You can hear the rushing water particularly well if you go directly to the rock. One possible reason for this "phenomenon" is that the murmur of the Maltsch is reflected from the rock faces opposite on the Czech side. The question of why this noise is only audible at the above-mentioned location has not yet been clarified.
The tourist center Windhaag built a path along the embankment, at the same time a plateau was built in front of the listening area and the steep embankment towards the road was secured as best as possible. Small signage measures at the parking lot along the road near the Mairspindt border crossing and in the area of the "Rushing Rocks" have been implemented. Innkeeper Karl Affenzeller has summarized a legend from old documents, a sign by the "Rushing Rock" reports about the "nature radio play".
