The original church dates from the 16th century, after the building became dilapidated, a new building followed, which was inaugurated in 1869.

t cannot be ruled out that the first chapel dedicated to Saint Peter was already on the Kirchberg when Heinrich I fled to Püchau. A new church was built around 1565, of which the lower quadrangular part of the tower has survived to this day. After centuries later the structural condition of the old church building could no longer be preserved, a new building was built, which was inaugurated in 1869. The nave and the upper octagonal part of the tower were then given their current appearance.

No matter from which direction you approach Püchau, its 44 meter high church tower is visible from afar over the forest, castle with palace and the Püchau houses. One already suspects that a huge church nave has to be attached. In the nave with its total of 322 seats there is wonderful acoustics, which is particularly noticeable at concerts. Worth seeing is the middle window of the sanctuary, in which the ascension of Christ is depicted in colorful stained glass.

The installation of a winter church under the organ gallery was also successful. Worship services are held every 14 days. Weddings in this church are very popular because the medieval setting is particularly attractive and unique in our area.
