At the Espengrotte on the connecting road between Reisbach and Obersalbach in the extension of the road "Am Matzenberg" you can enjoy the silence in the middle of nature and seek closeness - be it close to God, to yourself or others, be it to find distance of his problems or an approach to their solutions.Since 73 yearsThis year, the Espengrotte has existed for 73 years: In 1948, the sculptor Wilhelm Meiser created "Grabmale Wilhelm Meiser" in his workshop (continued by Alma Meiser-Sauerborn, today Natursteine Georg Linn) the statue of the Mother of God and that of Bernadette and arranged the grotto with his friend Josef Philippi based on the model of Lourdes. Committed care It is thanks to a group of volunteer women and men from Reisbach and Hülzweiler that the aspen grotto looks so well-kept and effective , who strive to maintain and look after the grotto all year round, to ensure that it is in perfect structural condition and that the adjacent water pump is functional. The Reisbacher Espengrotte has become the epitome of human encounters in the great outdoors, especially in this time of little contact.
