The church of Santa Maria di Cosantinopoli, also known as Sant'Anna, but better known than the cemetery, stands outside the city on the road to Martina Franca. The church dates back to the early 17th century. Following the 1840 Bourbon decree which prohibited the burial of the dead in public churches, the church was destined to house the city cemetery. A historical role that he played from 29 July 1840 until 14 June 1918, when the new cemetery on the road to Ostuni was inaugurated.
So in the nineteenth century when the church found itself fulfilling this new social function it was surrounded by walls and enlarged in order to meet the needs of the community.
The facade of the church is very simple the portal is marked by a tympanum supported by two shelves covered with acanthus leaves. At the top, asymmetrically, a bell gable rises; at the top, asymmetrically, a bell gable rises. Inside the church, the Baroque high altar is noteworthy.

The altar made of local stone between 1734 and 1737 by the master Pasquale Simone of Lecce. The altar is a splendid lithic machine of an exquisitely Salento matrix, decorated with twisted columns wrapped in spirals and floral elements interspersed with statues of saints. The altar bill is very reminiscent of that of the church of San Quirico, and it is no coincidence that it is signed by the same author from Salento. The altarpiece of the altar reproduces Saint Anne with the Virgin Child, called the Bomminnella to which one of the oldest fairs is linked.
