A rural town retaining its wine-growing and forestry character, Gassin has seen its economy increasingly influenced since the end of the 19th century by tourism. Originally, the local authorities showed little interest in this sector, leading in particular to the splitting of two important districts erected into a municipality: Cavalaire and La Croix. In the 21st century, Gassin was home to many establishments, mainly top-of-the-range, linked to tourism, including a polo club and a golf course, and developed a specific welcome marked by nature, numerous activities and wine tourism.
