The nature reserve Lampertheimer Biedensand lies in a loop severed during the straightening of the Rhine 1878-1879. It can be reached via a bridge over the Altrhein, west of Lampertheim. The approximately 5 km ² large area offers, except a few benches no leisure infrastructure.
If you want to explore the area, the peace and nature, should not do this weekend. On weekdays you can also use the bike, but the paved way becomes progressively worse the further you go. Unfortunately I forgot my mosquito repellent and did not ride the complete loop this time.

The nature reserve "Lampertheimer Altrhein" was designated in 1937 as one of the first nature reserves in Hesse and is 525 ha in size. It consists essentially of two sub-areas, namely the island "Biedensand" and the southwest bordering, mainly consisting of grassland "Bonnaue". These are separated from each other by the actual Altrheinschlinge, the "Raul Ravine". Due to different degrees of watering, it offers a variety of habitats. Source: lampertheim.de
