The City Garden was established in 1880 in honour of the former Queen of Portugal and is also known as the "Dona Amelia Garden". It was once the site of the São Francisco convent, whose "Pedra de Armas" can still be seen on one of the lawns.

Here you will find flora from Madeira and many other parts of the world. The garden has a lake and a stream with fish and birds, some works of art and an auditorium for cultural activities. There is also a lovely park café where you can buy all kinds of delicious fresh-squeezed fruit juices.

Funchal with its charming old town 🤩 with many small streets, cafeterias; Ice cream parlors; and bars, there is a lot to marvel at.
