This guarded refuge, located at 1,965 meters of altitude, remains open in the summer-autumn period from June to September 30, as well as on weekends in October, and in the winter-spring season, between December and April. It has five rooms with capacity for up to 40 people and is located within the nature park of the Sorteny Valley. The refuge offers high mountain gastronomy, both in the indoor restaurant and on the terrace. It has the usual equipment of this type of accommodation (bunk beds, mattresses, bed linen, showers, toilets, telephone, radio station, etc.) and enjoys mobile phone coverage.
It is the most accessible of the protected refuges in Andorra, as it can be reached by car from the Serrat, taking the junction that gives access to the nature park of the Sorteny Valley to the car park located at the end of the road. From this point to the refuge it is about 30 minutes on foot along a path of low difficulty with about 200 meters of elevation gain. The two months that the refuge remains closed (May and November) offers a free access area for eight people.
The Borda de Sorteny refuge is a crossing point of the ARP (Alta Ruta Pirenaica), the GRP (Principate) and one of the end/start points of the Coronallacs circular.
It is also part of the Entrepyr network, a cross-border project that facilitates Pyrenean crossings by promoting the protected shelters located in French, Spanish and Andorran territory. Reservations at all affiliated shelters can be made directly through the Entrepyr website.
